Senior, Health Services Management
About
My name is Betelhem Assefaw, and I am a senior studying Health Services Management at Indiana University Indianapolis. I have experience in long-term care, working in both clinical and administrative roles.Starting in healthcare at a young age helped me develop responsibility, communication skills, and a strong work ethic. Over time, I became interested not only in patient care but also in how facilities operate behind the scenes. Working at the front desk and closely with my administrator showed me how leadership, organization, and decision-making affect the entire workplace. My goal is to become a long-term care or assisted living administrator where I can improve operations, support employees, and create a positive environment for residents and staff.
Why Health Services Management?
I chose Health Services Management because I wanted to understand the business and leadership side of healthcare. While working in long-term care, I saw how management decisions impact staffing, workflow, and overall quality of care. I want to be a leader who understands both employees and residents. This major allows me to combine my healthcare experience with leadership, operations, and management skills so I can make a bigger impact in the future.
