Capstone Internship

Operations Intern
BHI Senior Living- Westminster Village

I completed my internship at Westminster Village as an Operations Intern. Westminster Village is a large community that offers long-term care, rehabilitation services, independent living, and cottages, which gave me the chance to experience a bigger facility than what I’m used to. During my internship, I worked closely with my mentor, the Assistant Executive Director, and had the opportunity to shadow her. This allowed me to see how different departments work together and helped me gain a better understanding of leadership in a healthcare setting.

Learning Objectives and Outcomes

This experience showed me how important teamwork and communication are across all departments. It also opened my eyes to areas I didn’t expect to be interested in and helped me grow professionally. I learned how important organization and attention to detail are in healthcare, and this experience helped shape my understanding of the kind of leader I want to be.

Leadership Experience
Leadership Meeting with CEO

During my internship, I had the opportunity to attend a meeting with the CEO of BHI, John Dattilo, where I was able to ask questions and gain insight into leadership in healthcare. This experience helped me better understand decision-making at a higher level and how leadership impacts all departments within an organization.
